Kitchen Farms in Elmira, Michigan has been growing, bagging and shipping premium table stock potatoes since 1910. JOIN OUR TEAM:

You will be operating both farm equipment in the fields and forklifts in the warehouse/potato storage areas. From working ground in the spring to operating equipment indoors moving potatoes, to assisting in other areas on the farm; you will enjoy the variety this position offers.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF:

  • Have prior experience operating heavy equipment such as farm tractors, construction or military equipment
  • Pay attention to the details, keeping accurate records and taking care of equipment
  • Have some mechanical understanding and are able to identify problems and assist with light equipment maintenance
  • Enjoy the autonomy of operating equipment and are comfortable with the long hours involved in farming
  • Like to work in an environment that is organized and the team prides themselves on well-maintained equipment and facilities

The position offers excellent pay and is paid hourly with time and ½ over 40 hours per week.  Hourly wage depends on experience. Benefits include health insurance, IRA retirement with matching 3% of wages, and paid vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate equipment such as tractors with implements, forklifts, etc.
  • Perform daily pre-inspections on equipment such as checking fluids, tire pressure, etc.
  • Complete accurate records and data tracking
  • Follow all company procedures and all safety procedures and practices
  • Maintain clean equipment
  • Work closely with management to communicate any issues in the field or warehouse
  • Assist in other farm areas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years operating heavy equipment such as farm equipment and/or construction equipment
  • Ability to work well with a team and communicate clearly with others
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work longer hours during peak seasons
