This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and competitive management of the commercial and operational activities required for a full service grain elevator operation.

Core Functions:

  • Manage and direct all functions of operations to ensure employees are engaged and adhere to safe work practices
  • Responsible for originating grain in accordance with flexible marking and origination programs to ensure that business plans are achieved
  • Direct, monitor, implement and maintain safety and environmental programs and improvements
  • Maintain all compliance records including but not limited to safety and environmental documentation
  • Responsible for facility logistics including truck and rail
  • Responsible for fostering and growing customer relationships along the value chain
  • Uphold and enhance EGT’s image and reputation in the community in which we operate through ethical conduct
  • Manage grain inventories, grading processes, monitor grain quality and capture blending opportunities
  • Direct and supervise employees
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, standard practices and compliance with facility work practices and rules
  • Ensure safe and efficient truck, rail and activities, based on facility logistics structure
  • Conduct employee training, including safety training, and strive for consistent operating practices
  • Maintain facility housekeeping programs to ensure facility maintains regulatory compliance as well as achieving all facility housekeeping standards
  • Participate in employee recruitment, interviews and hiring process for hourly employees
  • Build employee relations and encourage a team environment
  • Manage and ensure that maintenance programs, including preventative and predictive maintenance opportunities, are completed
  • Ensure operational expenses are within budget
  • Responsible for completing accounting and business control activating including but not limited to: inputting contracts, contract/ticket applications, customer reports, daily activity reports, and month-end accounting

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Business or applicable related field is preferred
  • 1-2 years applicable experience
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment is critical
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills with ability to effectively communicate internally and externally
  • Familiarity of hedging on the Chicago Board of Trade, grain contracting, and NGFA rules preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of safety, productivity and teamwork
  • Familiarity in agriculture is desirable
  • SAP/GTM experience is required
  • Proficient with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Excel, Microsoft Word, and other technical software packages
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and conflicting objectives
