Description of Job Colorado Correctional Industries (CCi) is a cash funded, self supporting division of the Colorado Department of Corrections. CCi provides training and education for inmates. CCi provides services to many government and non profit organizations with an emphasis on excellent customer service. This position is a Farm Supervisor, Correctional Support Trades Supervisor I (CSTS I). This position ensures the safety and security of the general public, staff and inmates. This position prepares inmates for community re-entry by promoting the Colorado Department of Corrections Mission, Vision and Values while adhering to a high level of integrity and commitment. Safety and Security - This position maintains safety and security of facility; through clear and accurate communication. The position trains and guides staff and inmates in the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment and chemicals; enforces security procedures by conducting searches; monitors workplace environment and offender behavior, paying close attention to changes, inappropriate activity or potential problems; initiates verbal reprimands when warranted and, if necessary, physically controls inmates with the proper application of restraints or "use of force" techniques; monitors, supervises and escorts inmates according to facility policy and limits offender access to restricted areas; position performs offender counts and transportation; responds to emergency situations such as fights, fires and escapes according to agency policy and writes and submits required reporting. Through conscientious observation, clear communications and adherence to agency Administrative Regulations, facility Implementation Adjustments and the Code of Penal Discipline, position promotes a safe and secure environment. Inmate Accountability - The position ensures offender workers are trained in work area and ensures timely completion of tasks. Ensures offender evaluations are completed, tracks and calculates offender hours and pay, creates schedule and assigns tasks and resolves informal grievances according to agency policy; reduces offender idleness and creates real life work opportunities to prepare inmates for community re-entry. Position holds inmates accountable for attendance and utilizes PCDCIS Chronological Entry to report/track both positive and negative behavior. Operations - This position ensures the safe, secure, efficient, compliant and cost effective execution of assigned tasks and projects by performing "hands on" instructional work alongside staff and offender crew. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Experience must be described in detail on your application to receive credit. Any work experience less than full time will be prorated. OR: A minimum of two (2) years of experience, as described above may be combined with experience in a correctional environment for a total of at least four (4) years. Correctional Experience - must be security related duties where primary responsibilities included detaining, controlling movement and escorting inmates in a prison facility; conducting counts and searches while monitoring inmate assignments and movement throughout the day.
