Welcome to Midwest Machinery! We are a full line John Deere dealership that provides agriculture, consumer, and commercial equipment throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. We are hiring a Diesel Mechanic – Service Technician to join our team in Plainview, MN (about 30 minutes northeast of Rochester). In this role you will be performing basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance on customer and/or dealer-owned farm-agriculture and turf equipment.

What you will be doing:

  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products.
  • Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Maintain condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Complete all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • May perform diagnosis and repair in the field.
  • Interacts in a positive and respectful manner with customers and fellow employees.
  • Participates in the After-Hours Program.
  • Actively assists in recruiting service work.
  • Shares knowledge and skills with other company technicians.
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This job is for you if you have:

  • Prior agriculture, farm, construction, or other large equipment mechanical experience. Or other related work and/or military experience or a certificate/diploma from a recognized Diesel program.
  • Knowledgeable of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Have your own tools or ability to obtain.
  • Proficient using computer programs such as Service Advisor to complete work tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, continued learning on new products, and works well independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to use a forklift/skid loader, forklift certification preferred but not required.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic Service Technician certification preferred but not required.
