Position at Empire Packing

The positions include but not limited to the following duties:
  • Complete and comply with mandatory safety training as outlined for the job assignment
  • Complete and comply with food safety/GMP training as outlined for the job assignment
  • To clean and sanitize machinery and floors in a production line setting
  • Responsible for all basic cleaning in and around assigned area, basic floor pick-up, trash removal, setting up and tearing down floor mats,
  • Set up, stocks, and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Monitor and maintains sanitation and organization of assigned areas
  • May require use of a water hose, squeegee, etc.
  • Stay aware of your surroundings and notify a supervisor if you recognize a hazard
  • Perform other duties as needed or as assigned

Functional Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs on occasion
  • Ability to stand, stoop, walk, bend at the waist, and/or crawl for extended periods of time
  • Must use proper personal protective equipment effectively

Work Conditions:
  • Must be able to work in a very cold, damp environment
  • Production and maintenance settings
  • Exposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knives
  • Slippery floors, cold temperatures

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Must be well-organized with good attention to detail
  • Display strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperation with others
  • Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, instructions and to deal with problems involving a few different variables.
  • Strong desire to work hands-on work environment
  • Good attendance and safety records
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Activities:
Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

Hearing:
Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion:
Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.

Visual Abilities:
Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Physical Strength:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds throughout the day.

Working conditions:
Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold. Temperatures are frequently below freezing, and employees are expected to remain in these conditions for most of their work days.
