GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: Work is performed under the general supervision of the building principal, or designee. This is an exempt position as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees holding exempt positions often are required to follow a flexible work schedule, which may include working extended hours to meet specific job responsibilities. The contracted salary covers all hours worked. This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Agriculture / Welding Teacher - This dual position will provide students with appropriate learning activities and job skills within the fields of agriculture and welding. Applicants will be responsible for various aspects of the CCHS agriculture program including but not limited to the Agriculture Shop and School Farm. In addition to the Agriculture shop and classroom, the teacher will be part of the local FFA chapter at CCHS and assist in planning and implementation of all FFA activities at CCHS and Carroll County. The position will also teach students basic welding safety and techniques in conjunction with Wytheville Community College. Welding certification is not required, but individuals must be willing to obtain proper certification(s) to be licensed. Hold the Collegiate Professional License with a specific endorsement in the area to which assigned; have an acceptable rating for any teaching experience noted on the application; and have demonstrated the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and members of the community. To utilize appropriate and varied teaching techniques and learning activities. To use out-of-class assignments, when appropriate, to support instructional objectives. To maintain an effective system of monitoring student progress and to inform appropriate persons. To maintain discipline appropriate to learning situation. To keep students on task. To use positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to maintain good student discipline. | |
