Sanitation Technician Level 1 - Colby, WI
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Follow time and attendance guidelines in accordance with the employee handbook.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment and accept and follow directions.
  • Able to stand for long periods and climb stairs frequently throughout shift.
  • Occasionally lift and / or carry up to 55 pounds individually or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Occasionally lift up to 45 pounds and move or throwing short distances.
  • Ability to squat and bend frequently while lifting up to 55 pounds during shift.
  • Ability to work at shoulder level or overhead occasionally during shift.
  • Capable of safely operating all sanitation equipment and performing all general labor duties.
  • Tolerant of seasonally very warm temperatures.
QUALITY CONTROL REQUIREMENTS
  • Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Complete Knowledge and ability to follow and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Full Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and its importance.
  • Maintain and enforce all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.
NOTE: Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to the tasks in your job.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs not your back.
  • Pivot with your feet avoiding twisting at the waist.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, watching for forklift traffic and trip hazards such as pallets or cords.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.
  • Maintain proper guards and safety devices when working with machinery and on catwalks.
  • Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clean and sanitize food contact equipment and surroundings.
  • Conduct chemical concentration tests on cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Follow all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Perform general maintenance on sanitation equipment.
  • Disassemble equipment for cleaning and reassemble clean parts.
  • Complete sanitation paperwork including the Master Cleaning Schedule (MCS) and Chemical Usage Monitoring Forms.
  • Complete ATP and allergen swabbing and record results properly.
  • Attend all chemical safety training.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
  • Complete forklift safety training.
  • Complete the daily forklift operator checklist prior to using the forklift during your shift.
  • Operate a forklift to remove items from the cook rooms to the warehouse.
  • Report any suspicious activity related to food defense.
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND PROGRESSING LEVELS AND DUTIES:
The sanitation personnel work as a part of a TEAM, but individually complete all processes associated with HACCP SSOPs and assigned tasks given by Supervisors, Managers, and Line Leaders. The main objective for the Sanitation Department is PROPERLY washing and sanitizing equipment and/or rooms associated with production or require cleaning. In order to properly wash and sanitize equipment, a STRONG understanding of disassembly/assembly is important and is required. ALL work will be done in accordance and compliance with Revela Foods GMP policy and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

NOTE: ALL progression in Sanitation Department levels program is subject to Management discretion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

MUST be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 55 pounds as needed, and 35 pounds repeatedly during your workday/shift. Ability to read, comprehend work instructions, and complete ALL required and necessary paperwork. Must be able to work in a seasonally hot and fast paced environment while wearing ALL required company issued personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task such as smocks, aprons, gloves, safety glasses, face shields, ear plugs/muffs, as this environment can create moderate levels of machine noise. Additional PPE may be required throughout the shift depending on what task is delegated.

DUTIES:
  • Properly clean barrel cutting room using proper cleaning chemicals, including barrel carts.
  • Properly clean some of the barrel cook room areas-conveyor belt, blender, hopper, and grinder.
  • Assemble the following after cleaning: conveyor belts, blenders, hoppers, and grinders.
  • Ability to understand, demonstrate proper use of the SSOPs and have a good understanding of proper chemical usage.
  • Ability to follow and accept instructions from Supervisors, Managers, and Line Leads, as well as fellow coworkers working as a TEAM with same goals.
  • Ability to clean basic lines and/or machines and understanding of safety hazards and use of chemicals.
  • Through continued training to efficiently clean a minimum of 3-4 different cookers.
  • Be able to understand which tasks need to be completed on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis and demonstrate ability to properly and completely fill out ALL necessary paperwork during and at the end of the shift.
  • Have a good understanding of proper GMPs and SSOPs.
ADM requires the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and a background check.
