Forklift Operator - Colby, WI
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS- Follow time and attendance guidelines in accordance with the employee handbook.
- Work cooperatively in a team environment and accept and follow directions.
- Must be able to operate forklift in a safe and effective manner.
- Ability to work independently and accomplish daily goals.
- Ability to regularly lift and / or carry up to 55 pounds individually or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Tolerant of seasonally very warm temperatures.
Occasionally = 1-40% of shift Regularly = 41-60% of shift Frequently = 60-90% of shift Continuously = 90-100% of shift QUALITY CONTROL REQUIREMENTS- Appreciation for cleanliness and sanitation, keeping work area clean and organized.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Awareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and its importance.
- Follow all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.
NOTE: Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS- Be aware of and follow up to date OSHA regulations that apply to the tasks in your job.
- Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs not your back.
- Pivot with your feet avoiding twisting at the waist.
- Be aware of your surroundings, watching for pedestrians while operating a forklift.
- Sound forklift horn before passing through any doorway.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.
- Maintain proper guards and safety devices when working with machinery and on catwalks.
- Never operate equipment for which you have not been properly trained or certified for.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or Equivalent
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Complete forklift safety training.
- Complete the daily forklift operator checklist prior to using the forklift during your shift.
- Operate a forklift to load and unload goods in and out of the warehouse.
- Check batching paperwork to determine what supplies are needed for the day (boxes, bags, covers, liners, pallets, etc.).
- Obtain appropriate paperwork for the day:
- F-P008 PC Tally Sheet
- F-I008 Tote Information Sheet
- F-I008A Tote Information Sheet - LOL
- F-I008B Tote Information Sheet - Schreiber
- F-I006 Land O Lakes Information Sheet
- Complete paperwork as needed.
- Deliver supplies to the lines.
- Assist with setting up the lines.
- Record starting partials (oil, LBO, lactic acid, color, etc.).
- Assist Cutting Line:
- Dump PC crates
- Keep line supplied with cheese.
- Place finished product in cooler.
- Complete F-C012 McCain Foods Pallet Tag - Cutting if product is for McCain.
- For the sauce lines, transport full pallets of product to the wrapper, apply pallet tag and move to proper location in the warehouse.
- Dump PC crates for Deli Source, wrap the pallet and apply all labels and pallet tags using form F-SR009.
- Weigh and document hot filled PC crates on F-P008 PC Tally Sheet. Set them out to cool or place them in the VRT.
- Keep all lines supplied with tote products (soybean oil, canola oil, LBO, lactic acid, etc.).
- Remove full garbage totes from all lines and take to the trash dock. Replace with empty totes.
- Provide breaks for other forklift operators as needed.
- Load the palletizer with pallets.
- Stage orders for shipping as needed.
- At the end of the day:
- Remove any extra ingredients and/or supplies from the lines and put away in the proper location.
- Remove all garbage.
- Weigh all tote packaged ingredients and record on the back of F-I008 Tote Information Sheet.
- Turn in paperwork after partials are recorded
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Report any suspicious activity related to food defense.
