Verbio is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, Automation Engineer, for its production facility located in South Bend, IN.

About Verbio
Verbio acquired South Bend Ethanol, LLC, an operating ethanol plant located in South Bend, Indiana. As a global leader in the renewable energy industry, this will be Verbio’s second US production facility following the successful commissioning of its Nevada, IA plant. The site will be developed over the next three years incorporating Verbio’s advanced engineering and operating technology practices. Verbio intends to expand and develop the plant into a modern biorefinery at an estimated total investment of $230 million.
Integration of the ethanol production with the RNG production process, unique to the Verbio brand and developed successfully at the company`s facilities in Europe over the past decade, will result in higher efficiencies and improved sustainability. Following commissioning, the production capacity of the plant will be at 85 million gallons of corn ethanol and 2.8 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of RNG per year.

Essential Functions:
  • Work closely with Process Engineering, Production and Headquarters Automation Team to deploy process control automation
  • Maintain DCS and PLC platforms
  • Implement process automation on DCS platforms by coordinating in small site-based teams working with leveraged resources and/or external vendors
  • Provide engineering support in operations area to troubleshoot, resolve technical problems, and identify root cause analysis of automated and E&I equipment
  • Utilize PLC software to enhance and troubleshoot machine function and capabilities
  • Identify and understand top losses and execute work to eliminate inefficiencies
  • Capability to develop, manage, execute, and start-up automation projects
  • Ensure that the gains achieved from process automation projects are sustained
  • Continually improve value from process automation by suggesting and/or applying other process control improvements through technologies and tools

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Automation or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial and/or manufacturing experience
  • Capability to program and troubleshoot complex PLC, HMI, and components
  • Experience with automation, process control, or other manufacturing and E&I equipment
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Leadership of a team to develop, manage and execute projects
  • The ability to read and understand operating procedures, manuals and drawings
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented team player
  • Emerson DeltaV or Allen Bradley experience
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter, energetic, organized, and service minded
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Auto Cad
