Description

Overview

Responsible for the procurement of grain and growing relationships with producers. Negotiate contracts and coordinate the logistics and movement of grains. Accounting functions include billing customers, processing farmer settlements, and submitting required reporting. Relocation assistance is available for the right candiate. 

Job Description

  • Communicate with producers over the phone, on the farm, and at marketing meetings to inform them of market trends, current pricing, and overall agricultural business.
  • Work to grow new customers within trade territory and capture additional market share of grain production from existing customers.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts. Gain in-depth knowledge and insights into a customer’s goals to target procurement tactics.
  • Maintain knowledge of grain contracts offered by NSG to producers and explore potential grain marketing tools.
  • Oversee execution of customer contracts on both delivered and FOB purchases.
  • Effective understanding of regional grain markets and monitor competitiveness in setting bids and assisting in making company sales.
  • Assist accounting department in providing timely and accurate grain settlements to producers.

Daily Activities

  • Enter scale tickets for inbound and outbound grain and apply to contracts.
  • Sort rock and salt tickets, sales receipts.
  • Oversee grain-related financial transactions, including purchase, sales, and inventory management.
  • Grade inbound and outbound grain.
  • Manage bid sheet for grain prices and outbound rolled corn.
  • Maintain business licenses.
  • Maintain certifications for moisture testers and scales.
  • Oversee annual audit.
  • Manage organic certification of inbound loads.
  • Distribute clean truck and rail car affidavit.
  • Work with producers on origination.
  • Grade and send off samples during harvest.
  • Coordinate truck and rail movement during the year.

Accounting Essential Functions

  • Process farmer settlements and issue grain settlement payments.
  • Invoice grain sales, contract storage and transloading fees.
  • Submit monthly grain insurance reports and quarterly grain tax reports.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Post high school training at the college or vocational level desirable.
  • Experience may be substituted for education.

Experience

  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Good people skills necessary.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills necessary.
  • Computer skills required (Word and Excel)
  • Ag background a plus
