This position is responsible for the managing of day-to-day activities related to state income and franchise tax audits and compliance as well as annual reports for the Tyson Foods consolidated group. This includes ensuring timely and accurate compliance with applicable state laws and regulations and other planning and related projects. This position reports directly to an Income Tax Director and supervises and develops Tax Accountants and Sr. Tax Accountants across the Income Tax group depending on the project. This position also participates in and supports federal income tax compliance and related projects.  Responsibilities include: working directly with state taxing jurisdictions to resolve audit controversy issues; monitoring on a day-to-day basis state income tax activities such as tax law changes court case results etc. in order to assess related implications advise management develop responses and assure compliance; assisting with quarterly calculation of the group’s state effective income tax rate cash flow projections and tax accounting and reporting; managing projects of varying size and complexity; and any other duties that may arise. 


Education:  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting.  In addition a good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and of federal and state tax laws and accounting.  CPA designation is preferred.  Experience:  6 plus years of experience in the field of corporation income taxation or related fields.  Experience managing state audits strongly preferred.  Prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.  Computer Skills:  Requires standard computer skills.  Candidate must have working ability with Excel Word and Outlook. Must have ability to perform technical research using RIA Checkpoint BNA or other tax research tools and the ability to learn and become proficient in tax software such as Corptax or OneSource.  SAP knowledge and experience preferred.  Travel:  0-3 plus domestic trips per year.  Supervisory Responsibilities:  0 – 2 senior accountants accountants or interns.
