Big Iron is the one and only online auction company started by farmers, which replicates that kind of integrity on a digital platform, for our agriculture, construction, transportation, and utility customers.

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is designed to strategically develop productive selling relationships to support BigIron’s unreserved weekly auctions with frequent inventory supply. The focus of this role is to target strategic fleet owners such as dealers, OEMs, distributors, etc. The specific geographic target market includes North America. Primary targets include those dealers, distributors, and fleet groups that support the agriculture, construction, and transportation industries and other accounts directed and approved by BigIron’s Vice President of Sales that meets the qualifications and intent of creating accretive and sustainable GMV (auction sales) and related revenue for BigIron.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicates and supports the Company’s mission, vision, and core values
  • Confers with Company officials to develop methods and procedures to increase sales, expand markets, and promote business
    • These resources include senior managers and other industry peers and dealer development personnel
  • Advises dealers and distributors on agreement language and operating procedures to ensure functional effectiveness of business
  • Adheres to BigIron business principals and business model based on unreserved auctions, guaranteed lien free (clear title) sales, and listing contract execution
  • Follows the documented sales process related to listing contracts execution and delivery, both internally and externally – Including, contract pricing and contract tracking
  • Listens to and resolves customer complaints regarding services
  • Provides staff with assistance in performing difficult or complicated duties
  • Provides continuous quality improvement methods to assess market and account growth potential
  • Reports timely communication assessments to Senior Leadership regarding account development issues, contract opportunities, quality issues, competitive threats and ultimately deal development and the securitization of adequate revenue production to meet goals and objectives
  • Provides timely inputs and assessments to appropriate Senior Leadership regarding account support requests and requirements    
  • Attends company meetings to exchange information and coordinate work activities with other departments, managers and executives 
  • Prepares listing agreements, specifying any charges or changes
  • Resolves customer complaints regarding sales and service
  • Monitors customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts
  • Confers or consults with department heads to plan advertising services and to secure information on equipment and customer specifications
  • Confers with prospective customers regarding inventory disposal needs and desired balance sheet effects
  • Converts prospective accounts within this stated universe into preferred dealer and account status
  • Visits dealers to stimulate interest in auction options
  • Directly works with the office staff to process all agreements and documentation related to the auction sales

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (suite) and learned proficiency with previous licensed software access (i.e., CRM, Expense Reimbursement, RFP, and Proposal/Contact, etc.)
  • Relationship selling skills with consultative influence and above average closing skills
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness to gain access to decision makers and influencers
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of agriculture, construction, transportation, and utility equipment
  • Strong customer service skills both internal and external

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or five (5) plus years of related experience and/or training
  • Experience in customer service and community engagement
  • Experience is equipment in agriculture, construction, transportation, and utility
  • Past unreserved auction contract sales and support experience
  • Demonstrated Senior Account Development and Management Experience
  • Experience in OEM Dealer relationships
