We are currently seeking a Molecular Biology Lab Technician to work with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. (2) Extract genomic DNA and perform PCR analysis. (3) Perform genetic screens aimed at identifying Drosophila factors important for stem cell lineage development. (4) Perform recombinant DNA studies to analyze neurogenic gene function. (5) Perform transgenic Fly experiments to study the role of this genetic information in an in vivo context. (6) Maintain both wild-type and transgenic Drosophila families using established procedures in literature as well as new protocols developed in the Neural Cell-Fate Determinants Section for Drosophila animal husbandry. (7) Perform RNA in situ recombinant DNA methodologies to clone genes of interest. (8) Express recombinant proteins and generate transgenic fly lines with specific recombinant constructs via embryo injections. (9) Maintain detailed records of experiments. (10) Maintain and calibrate equipment; prepare reagents and solutions required for research; inventory and order laboratory supplies. (11) Present scientific data at laboratory meetings. (12) Ship research reagents to different laboratories around the world. REQUIREMENTS : The contractor must have: (1) Bachelor of Science degree in biology or related discipline. (2) Minimum of three (3) years of experience in research laboratory. (3) Strong communication skills, both oral and written. (4) Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
