Job Description

Under the general direction of the warehouse manager, the Mill Operator & Warehouse Assistant will set up, operate, and test the grinding and bagging machines, ensuring standards for quality and quantity, in accordance with company policies and procedures. When not operating the grinding mill, the individual will be assisting in the warehouse.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Read and understand different raw materials and identify raw material locations efficiently. Test material produced, calculate percentages to insure materials meets the product specifications
  2. Set-up and run computerized grinding and sizing equipment. Operate bagging machine while stacking bags on pallets for shipment.
  3. Move bagged materials to loading area and assist loading delivery trucks.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. Trouble-shoot and fix any mechanical problems that may arise with equipment.
  5. Help with stocking, storing, labeling, casing, packing and distributing all materials and supplies.
  6. Helps operate and maintaining a computerized inventory control system.
  7. Understand and follow all safety and work rules and regulations.
  8. Operate fork lift truck efficiently and safely.
  9. Follow departmental housekeeping standards.
  10. Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
  11. Must have the ability to work independently.

Education and/Or Experience

Requires four years of high school a minimum of 3 years of related experience.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machine, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, sit and talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.

The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
