Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (1900185) – Seneca, SC
Where the Chemistry Happens

As a member of the Reliability Group within Technical Engineering Services, your key responsibility will involve driving plant reliability performance by providing mechanical engineering expertise focused on the maintenance aspect of production equipment. In this role, you will provide expertise in troubleshooting failing equipment and assist in the completion of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance work by using the most appropriate and effective tools and techniques. Furthermore, you will support capital and expense project activities such as proper equipment maintainability design aspects, spare parts identification, and repair strategies where necessary.

You will also collaborate with Production and Maintenance personnel and provide services, technical support, participate or lead in Root Cause Failure Analyses, and monitor maintenance specific KPI data for early identification and resolution of maintenance related issues.

Additionally, you will provide technical support to troubleshooting of problems and optimization of PM and PdM programs and ensure a culture of continuous improvement through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools.

You will interface with numerous other BASF and contractor personnel who may work different shift schedules.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your education in Mechanical Engineering and experience in a petrochemical maintenance environment with experience in material handling maintenance, you will troubleshoot equipment failures and make recommendations to operating units on equipment repair/ reliability, including emergency work reviews.
  • Your robust analytical ability will aid you in preparing specific reports with the associated database. This will, in turn, allow you to appropriately monitor and adjust the PM intervals, arrange scheduling with equipment owners where necessary, and monitor preventative and pro-active maintenance of the equipment.
  • Utilizing your knowledge of various types of pumps, their applications, installation, and related shaft sealing systems and laser alignment, you will provide technical support to the Maintenance Group’s Specialists and Craftsmen on difficult repair activities.
  • Your strong problem-solving ability and good working knowledge of Technical Engineering Services and Maintenance policies and procedures will be essential to lead or participate in RCFA and execute corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
  • Using your proven organizational skills, you will be responsible for defining and ensuring strategic spare parts are managed and maintained.
  • Striving for innovation and thinking analytically, you will support project design, commissioning and startup activities.
