K-12 Segment Specialist- West
This position is responsible for leading and driving K-12 growth in the Western Region including the following states – CA., OR., WA., ID., NV., UT. The K-12 market is a strategic channel priority for Land O’Lakes Foodservice. The position will be responsible for both calling on direct strategic K-12 school districts; as well as, supporting Waypoint local execution against all other identified K-12 accounts in the territory.
Specifics of the position include the following:
- Presenting Land O’Lakes products, in both commodity processing/commercial applications, and marketing promotions to strategic school districts
- Increasing menu cycle frequency and product placements
- Gaining new bid specifications
- Securing/gaining/validating bid awards
- Facilitating commodity draw-downs for all awarded commodity lbs.
- Providing all necessary broker support
In addition, the chosen candidate will also support both internal and Waypoint bid teams as needed to facilitate effective execution of all identified bids to drive territory performance.
30% – Develop local market plans and provide all necessary broker support, including monthly business reviews with Waypoint zone market directors/AVPs and scheduled rep ride-alongs, to support execution and growth of all K-12 priority accounts in the territory.
25% – Directly call on and build direct relationships with select strategic K-12 school districts (approximately 24) and key state offices including appropriate CRM documentation and strategic account planning.
20% – Work jointly with the broker and participate/support all appropriate K-12 food shows to increase Land O’Lakes brand and product awareness.
15% – Establish relationships with K-12 distributors (Gold Star Foods, PINCO) and select non-commercial operators (i.e. self-operated college and universities)
10% – Support the internal Land O’Lakes/Waypoint bid teams as needed to facilitate timely processing of all bids including providing pricing/competitive/market intelligence on all strategic bids to increase probability of success.
5 or more years of foodservice sales experience with a background calling on K-12 operators.
4-year bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience
Strong communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Attention to detail
Ability to manage/prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously within structured deadlines
Demonstrated leadership abilities
