The Human Resource Generalist will assist the Director of Human Resources with strategic business objectives to effectively grow the cooperative organization. The HR Generalist assists with planning and administering Key’s policies and strategies through HR Leadership, Talent Management & Acquisition, Performance Planning & Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, Legal & Compliance.

HR Leadership

  • Collaborates with the Information Resources team to increase employee engagement.
  • Occasionally visits all locations with the Information Resources team, annually with the Director of HR and as needed, to meet one on one with employees at their assigned location(s).
  • Takes a leadership role in building and improving the culture of our organization.
  • Regularly participates in Information Resources knowledge sharing sessions.

Talent Management & Acquisition

  • Manages employment openings, ensures promotion is done in a timely manner, in the appropriate medium; monitors and updates as needed.
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding/off-boarding and orientation processes.
  • Administers post offer/pre-employment drug screens. Also assists with random and reasonable suspicion drug screens as needed.
  • Coordinates new employee on-boarding and orientation with HR, Safety, IT, supervisors and mentors.
  • Assists with developing and implementing professional growth plans and opportunities for employees at all levels.

Performance Planning & Employee Relations

  • Aids in executing employee engagement strategies as needed.
  • Guides employees on benefits, employment issues, and work/life issues; responds to employee and staff inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assists managers and employees on employee relations topics and resolving issues as needed. Works with Director of HR and Risk Manager with internal investigations as needed.
  • Annually provide employee MVRs to supervisors for review.
  • Collaborates with the Communication Team on the employee newsletter.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental, vision, and disability insurances, pension plans, Personal Time Off, leave of absence, FMLA, and COBRA.
  • Keeps records of benefit plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for internal and government compliance reporting.
  • Annually process and distribute compensation and benefits statements.
  • Collaborates with the Payroll Clerk and Accounting team as needed.
  • Leads the wellness benefit initiative, working with the wellness team and wellness vendors.

Legal & Compliance

  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Maintain the employee and HR handbook.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy laws.
  • Updates the Director of HR and the Risk Manager with any legal or compliance issue.

Other Responsibilities

  • Read and follow company employee policies.
  • Keep informed of and follow approved safety practices in the performance of job responsibilities.
  • Accurately record and track all required safety information to ensure company and person safety goals.
  • Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by your supervisor.

Education and/or Experience: Two year degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, or a closely related discipline or three to five years minimum of Human Resource Generalist experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain HR certifications
  • First Aid and CPR certified (preferred)
