Position Summary:

Provide excellent feed products and customer support to Herbruck’s pullet and layer operations.  Develops and provides strategic leadership for Herbruck’s manufacturing operations.  Responsible for mill operations relating to personnel, productivity, mill process improvements, capital projects and food safety program compliance.  This position has a key role in in cross functional leadership teams while overseeing multi-location feed mill operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in Feed Mill Management, business or other related field and/or commensurate experience.

Position Responsibilities:

Direct accountability for the results of all of the Feed Mill Operations including but, not limited to: quality, costs, personnel, safety, housekeeping, maintenance and customer service.

Work with senior management to provide process efficiency improvements and changes to the manufacturing systems.

Ensure government regulation compliance for FDA, OSHA, EPA, etc.

Acts as SME for Production managers related to Feed operations.

Provides regular coaching to team members.  Motivates for high performance and excellence.  Provides opportunities for team member development and/or performance improvement.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience:

10 years in Feed Mill operations preferably in multi-site locations.

Ability to solve complex problems through innovation, collaboration, creativity and determination.

Strong drive for results with strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Experience in the agricultural or feed industry.

Knowledge of food safety requirements.

Demonstrated successful experience in various areas of feed mill operations including manufacturing metrics, quality control, procurement, logistics, employee engagement and team development to improve process efficiencies.

Ability to operate at both the strategic and tactical level and communicate across other business functions and at all levels in the organization.

Proven conflict management and resolution skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop people.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Ability to work in an environment that may involve extreme temperatures and dust. 

Lifting requirements up to 50lbs. occasionally. 

Required climbing of ladders/stairs to access varying heights within the mill.

Ability to travel up to 20% of your time to locations outside of Western Michigan.
