Oneida-Madison Milk Producers Cooperative, Inc. is a member-owned organization formed in 1961 for the purpose of hauling and marketing milk produced by 49 family-owned dairy farms in and around Sherrill, NY (between Syracuse and Utica, NY). We are a reputable supplier of high-quality milk to our customers.
Oneida-Madison Milk Producers Cooperative, Inc. currently seeks a General Manager to oversee the day -to-day operations of the business with good communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with people across multiple levels. The successful candidate will be self -motivated with strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and flexibility to address changing needs.
Roles and responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Ability to develop exceptional working relationships with others including farmer -members, employees, and customers
- Oversee truck fleet and milk hauling and delivery logistics
- Supervise and coordinate, under Board direction, the business activities of the co-op by managing the people staff of 9 employees, capital, and physical resources to achieve short and long-term business goals
- Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate marketing and labor contracts
- Provide timely, accurate, and complete reports to the Board of Directors, including monthly financial statements to assist with governance and decision making
- Provide analytical expertise by utilizing financial tools and reports available to develop budgets and support operations
- Present to the cooperative membership at the annual meeting, a report of the cooperative's operational highlights
- Oversee hiring, training, supervision, performance, and set compensation for employees
- Willingness to learn and ability to assist the cooperative to remain competitive in the shifting landscape of the dairy sector
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws: licenses, permits, health regulations, workers compensation and employment requirements
Required qualifications and experience:
- Track record of holding self and others to high levels of integrity
- Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions
- Five years' experience in managerial roles
- Ability to coach and motivate employees
- Financial accounting skills highly desired
- College degree in business management or agribusiness management
Desired skills:
- Detail-oriented to complete accurate reports to Federal Milk Marketing Order Administrator
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity with dairy industry and cooperative-structured businesses
