Job Description:

The District Sales Manager – Crop Protection Products (CPP) is the key contact point and relationship manager of assigned and prospects for WinField United. The DSM will be responsible for crop protection, adjuvants and seed treatments. This position will also be responsible for the training and coaching of retail sales people at aligned accounts to sell WinField United branded and partner Crop Protection products to growers. Special emphasis will be placed on selling all Crop Protection brands and building an equitable position through the Ag retailer to the grower.

20% Strategy Execution

  • Work in a cross-functional team environment including Regional Sales Director, MAA’s, District Sales Managers Seed and Performance Optimization, Agronomy and Ag Customer Team (ACT)to drive growth in our total Crop Protection business. Specific detail must be directed toward maintaining on-going coordination and open communication with the Regional team.
  • With input from sales and agronomy team, has responsibility for Crop Protection Products forecasting.
  • Work with ACT member in execution of Customer Business Plans and measuring progress against stated objectives for the Crop Protection business with owners/customers.
  • Training the technical side of the Crop Protection business through effective delivery of Partnered and Proprietary brand strategies and effective implementation by leading & conducting Answer Plot sessions, post-harvest meetings, grower meetings, one-on-one farm calling, etc.
  • Attend Regional/Team Meetings as scheduled.

20% Owner/Customer Relations

  • Is the focal point for customer relationships and key account ownership for the Crop Protection business.
  • Is able to fully demonstrate, communicate and leverage the total WinField United value proposition to our owner/customer including patronage, programs, pricing and supporting resources. “Value Matrix”
  • Work with ACT member in execution of Customer Business Plans and measuring progress against stated objectives for the Crop Protection business with owners/customers.

10% Channels

  • Serve as the centers of influence with channel partners.
  • Managing relationships with strategic partners including the Ag retail manager, key channel vendors and other center of influences

50% Sales Generation

  • Responsible for the sales of Crop Protection products through wholesale programs and pricing delivery with particular emphasis on branded and partnered Crop Protection products including all functions associated to product order, invoicing, delivery, and reconciliation.
  • Coaching and training sellers in Crop Protection sales and technology solutions by assisting sellers in making farm calls on producers in their trade areas. In addition, ensure retail sellers are fluent in utilizing our Ag Technology Tools including R7 to become the trusted advisor.
  • Support and promote with dealer management the R7 tool and other technology applications offered by WinField United and channel partners
  • Fluent in Account reporting metrics, analysis and programs including:
    • GPOS
    • AgriMine
    • Emerald qualifications
    • Equinox
    • Power BI
  • Sales and growth targets
  • Gross Margin
  • Strategic Imperatives
  • May occasionally be asked to supervise a WinField United Intern or Associate
  • Manage assigned sales expense budget

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Business-related field and at least a minimum of 3 years successful sales experience or marketing with direct customer contact. Individuals with 2-year degree in agriculture, plus extensive industry experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Marketing experience enabling the recognition of WinField growth opportunities driven by the interaction of seed genetics with the environment and the other crop inputs used on that field.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to interact well with customers, suppliers, employees and management of all levels.
  • Proven ability to solve and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to create and present interesting, informative and educational product presentations.
  • Ability to grow WinField-United Crop Protection business, both partnered and branded with key owners/customers.
  • Responsible for knowing Crop Protection product margins and maximizing profitability for aligned Winfield United accounts
  • Develop and Educate Retail Sellers on WinField United Crop Protection Products to enable them to sell to large growers.

  • Daily travel, extended hours and overnight travel required (40% or more travel)
  • Environment: farm machinery can be loud, fields are dusty and dirty, and weather conductions can vary from hot and humid to cold and wet.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment to sell the entire portfolio of Seed products and services and Ag Technology products and services.
  • Need to be proficient with all WinField-United tools (i.e. R7 Tool, Equinox, CRM, etc.)
