Position Summary:

The Commodity Settlements Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of transactions including: creating tickets, applying shipments/receipts to purchase & sales contracts, issuing invoices and settlements, tracking and recording freight and other expenses/accruals, and preparing and reviewing documents to ensure accurate and timely recording of rail, barge, and truck transactions. There will also be some month-end closing related responsibilities.

Core Functions:

  • Coordinate and communicate with commercial team, customers and vendors to efficiently record and apply shipments to the appropriate contract
  • Prepare, assemble, and validate necessary documents for settlement/invoicing
  • Create tickets, apply to contracts, and settle/invoice customers and vendors
  • Interface barge/rail/truck tickets to/from the terminals
  • Perform daily controls required for balancing and ensuring proper general ledger postings
  • Manage dispute management cases and work with customers to resolve differences in a timely fashion
  • Perform other duties needed to meet the shifting priorities of the department
  • Ensure reconciliation of recorded purchase and sales transactions for interoffice partners
  • Analyze and propose process improvements to support continuous improvement environment
  • Support, instruct, and train peers on more complex or non-routine activities

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in related field accepted in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge of SAP and GTM a plus
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs required (Excel, Word, Lotus Notes)
  • Detail-oriented and high attention to accuracy
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills with the ability to work within a team environment in a growing and dynamic segment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Flexibility to work overtime based on business demands
