Job Description

Overview:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Here's what you'll do:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Replace equipment.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make repair parts.
  • Documents all work done on reports accordingly.
  • NOTE: The maintenance supervisor or plant supervisor II, at any time, depending on the needs of the company, could add other duties.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine dimensional changes.
  • Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control devices.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical equipment.
  • Welds/fabricates equipment and components.
  • FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: The employee shall take all reasonable measures and precautions to ensure compliance with 21CFR 110. Disease Control: Any employee who, by medical examination or supervisory observation, is shown to have, or appears to have, an illness, open lesion, including boils, sores, or infected wounds, or any other abnormal source of microbial contamination by which there is a reasonable possibility of food, food-contact surfaces, or food packaging materials becoming contaminated, shall be excluded from any operations which may be expected to result in such contamination until the condition is corrected. Cleanliness: All employees working in direct contact with food, food-contact surfaces, and food-packaging materials shall conform to hygienic practices while on duty to the extent necessary to protect against contamination of food. Be aware of and comply with current good manufacturing practices regarding; proper food handling techniques, food-protection principles, the danger of poor personal hygiene and unsanitary practices
Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-out, as required
  • One to three years maintenance experience in a manufacturing/food processing environment. High school diploma or equivalent required); Trade school/occupational training desired but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Conversational Spanish is desired but not required
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and algebraic functions
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions. Problem solving skills are essential to this position.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Fork Truck Operator Certification. Welding Certificate.
