Fleet Manager - ARTCO - St. Louis, MO
American River Transportation Company, LLC
This is a full-time, exempt level position.

Overview of responsibilities:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the day-to-day safe and efficient operations of the business. This person will interact with all departments within the organization to insure for the smooth exchange of information and facilitation of company objectives.

Skills required: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational aptitude. Basic computer skills are necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and develop a high standard of workplace safety
  • Work closely with logistics to accomplish customer objectives
  • Work closely with maintenance department to maintain a high standard of equipment care
  • Assist accounting department in operational invoice reconciliations
  • Direct responsibility for the development and supervision of operations supervisors
  • Provide written evaluation of supervisors
  • Participate in daily crew changes
  • Continual analysis and improvements of operational efficiencies
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace
  • Conduct housekeeping inspections
  • Build discharge/load plans
  • Issue daily operational directives
  • Control labor cost
  • Coordinate scheduling of employees
  • Responsible for the hiring process and maintaining adequate staffing levels
  • Ensure compliance with ADM policy and Procedure
  • Ensure compliance with ARTCo Towing Safety Management System (TSMS)
  • Enforce all company policies
  • Collaborate with necessary entities (customers, barge lines, surveyors, agents) to provide amicable resolve to ship damages and operational issues
  • Provide special project management as needed
  • Work a rotating schedule that includes weekend coverage and an "on-call" after hour status
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in logistics and/or planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Accurate telephone etiquette
  • Evening and weekend availability required
  • This position will also require working on the telephone, sitting for extended periods of time, walking ramps and climbing stairs and ladders. Occasional overnight travel
