Meat Procurement Manager

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Meat Procurement Manager for JBS Prepared Foods that reports onsite to the corporate office in Greeley, Colorado .

The Meat Procurement Manager will be responsible for optimizing the supply chain procurement of all protein raw materials to supply raw material to all JBS Prepared Foods Manufacturing Plants. This position will manage all administrative tasks surrounding procurement of raw materials and co-packers. Working with facility managers, supervisors, plant schedulers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to facilities in a dynamic manufacturing environment. will work with suppliers to ensure timely and full delivery of orders at the right cost and right quality . This role will also work closely with Quality and R&D to ensure suppliers meat all requirements for food safety and specification adherence.

The manager will play a strategic role supporting innovation and growth initiatives, while developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies, leading to competitive costs, improved quality, technology and consistent delivery performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Forecasts monthly performance of material economics and cost saving objectives
  • Identify and advise management about commodities risks and opportunities
  • Ensures delivery of requested raw materials to plant schedulers
  • Tracks and communicates daily market closes, offering perspective on market movement
  • Develop positive relationships with supplier and maintain close contact regarding orders, market conditions, and trends
  • Assist in the raw materials claims process:
    • Ensure timely resolution of plant-initiated claims with suppliers.
    • Identify chronic quality issues and trigger problem-solving.
    • Works with Finance team to resolve block invoice issue’s
  • Recommends optimal supply chain for raw material supply including, but not limited to optimal mix of suppliers for all proteins, efficient warehousing of all frozen products, schedule to remove products at optimal time
  • Helps manage co-manufacturing purchasing function and inventory levels
  • Works with plant management to improve overall procurement processes for facilities
  • Processes raw material and co-manufactured product claims with suppliers and plants to an agreeable resolution and reimbursement
  • 20% Travel
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Business, Engineering, Finance, or similar.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Sourcing experience
  • Experience in analyzing, selecting/recommending, approving, and auditing suppliers for different product platforms within a multi-plant manufacturing environment, evaluating supplier capability relative to specifications, quality, and manufacturing.
  • Self-starter, driven individual focused on continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytic capacity and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills, demonstrated experience creating excel models to support or analyze business decisions.
  • Ability to facilitate and lead technical and commercial meetings that require multiple cross functional participants.
  • Skilled negotiator
  • Team oriented approach and demonstrated capacity to work with teams
  • Ability to consolidate monthly results and prepare presentations in power point to senior management
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Lead interactions with the following stakeholder s :
    • Raw Material Suppliers, vendors, strategic partners
    • Economists, outside forecasters
    • Government agencies /USDA
    • Freight, warehousing, suppliers.
    • Human Resources, Accounting, and Logistics
    • Scheduling and Sales
    • Category Managers
    • Internal Manufacturing leadership teams

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits :
  • Benefits : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off : sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k) : company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $120,000-$150,000 ; and
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
