Quality Assurance Specialist - Forsyth, MO
This is a full-time, exempt position.

SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Specialist primary function is to oversee the QMS to ensure the facilities and processes adhere to ISO 9001 certification and ISO 17025 accreditation, customer and internal guidelines. This position will also do method development on GC methods with training after development. Other equipment operation, calibration, and training responsibilities will be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Management retains the right to add to or change the duties of the position at anytime. The functions below are to be performed in accordance with all applicable FDA, OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards and regulations.
  • Review the maintenance, repair, calibration and operation of instrumentation to ensure the compliance with the QMS.
  • Review and recommend changes to ensure compliance with ISO procedures and processes.
  • Review and release test results to customers to include a detailed technical explanation when applicable.
  • Perform investigations of OOS results and review customer complaints when required.
  • Review, develop, and continuously improve the QMS procedures and record-keeping necessary for the organization.
  • Review the peer-review and archiving of laboratory testing data to ensure the compliance with the QMS.
  • Participate in audit activities of internal and external bodies.
  • Perform other roles and responsibilities per the Quality Manual, Quality Procedures and Management as required.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and technical skills. Dependability and reliability are key traits.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to interact successfully with vendors and customers.
  • Possess excellent math skills and ability to perform statistical analysis for the QMS.
  • Be willing to work extended hours, weekends and holidays when needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and at least eight years of laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Laboratory departmental management and quality management is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is carried out in an analytical laboratory. There is considerable exposure to raw materials and chemical reagents. Personal Protective Equipment such as lab coats, gloves, safety glasses and respirators must be worn as defined by safety policy.
