A & R Spada Farms Sprayer Operator A & R Spada Farms’ LLC is a family-owned and operated farm located in St. Paul, Oregon, approximately 35 miles south of Portland, and in the heart of Willamette Valley. Our operation started with two brothers growing crops in the 1950’s and has grown and diversified over the years to include nursery stock. Today, we continue to farm as well as expand our wholesale nursery operation focused on growing quality shrubs and ornamentals that are shipped to over 42 states and 6 Canadian Providences. We are hiring a Sprayer Operator to work for our St. Paul location to maintain plant health and readiness for salable quality. You will work closely with our production managers to oversee and conduct the spraying of can-yard and field crops. As needed, you will also perform light maintenance and assist in the shop and all areas of the farm. Our ideal candidate works together in a team atmosphere to achieve the outlined goals of the company while maintaining a professional and positive approach that is consistent with A & R Spada Farms’ Mission Statement and values. Our ideal candidate brings: • Experience in farming or agriculture operating farm and other heavy equipment. Previous operation of GPS or self-guided tractors. • Ability to work well independently and with a team. • Ability to work extended hours and weekends during busy seasons. • Valid Driver’s License. Experience operating semis or water trucks with a CDL or farm endorsement is preferred, but not required. • Current Oregon Pesticide License or the ability to obtain licensing is required. Responsibilities: • Calculate fertilizer application rates per acre to determine the quantity of fertilizer required. • Operate both liquid and dry fertilizer application equipment including controller setup and proper speed, nozzle size, and pressure required to apply the desired rate. • Complete applicator logs, required records, and reports promptly and submit to management. • Alert management or perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, farm equipment, tractors, and sprayers as needed. • Haul equipment, water for spraying, and supplies from farm to farm. • Scout fields to identify early signs of plant disease and aid prevention and control of pests. • Assist in all areas of the farm as needed. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift upwards of 50 pounds. • The ability to walk, stand, and bend at the waist and knees while working. • Occasionally crawl, stoop, kneel, climb, or balance. • Willing and able to work outside in all seasons and various weather elements including cold, heat, wind, or rain. • Exposure to dust, pollen, and agricultural/greenhouse nutrient inputs is common. | |
