Welcome to Pro-Ag Organic Farms! We are hiring a Forage Crew Leader for our farm located in Wray, Colorado. Our team is growing and we’re adding this second lead role and crew to our operation. In this role you will be involved in the day-to-day forage field operations which include cutting, chopping, harvesting, bagging, and transporting chopped forage as well as mowing, raking, and baling of dry hay. You will also lead and manage a Forage Crew.

We offer competitive compensation ranging from $60,000 - $80,000 based on experience along with medical, vision, and dental insurance, life insurance, 401K matching, PTO, company vehicle, company phone, and year-end bonus.

 

What you would be doing

  • Assist Forage Operations Manager and farm staff with an emphasis on dry hay .
  • Manage and direct forage worker hours and productivity.
  • Mentor and evaluate team members.
  • Oversee and implement the proper use of bagger including the location and marking of bags.
  • Ensure sample and burndowns are done correctly and data is entered properly.
  • Keep and maintain accurate records on inventories, affidavits, and tonnage.
  • Oversee routine and preventable maintenance on farm/forage/harvesting equipment.
  • Operate large farm/forage equipment.
  • Other duties to manage would include but are not limited to product testing/sampling, mechanical repairs and maintenance of forage/farm equipment, bagging/piling of forage products.

 

This job is for you if you have:

  • Previous experience in agriculture or farming, harvesting and/or dry hay/forage experience preferred.
  • Experience operating and maintaining large farm equipment.
  • Considered yourself hard-working, self-motivated, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work longer hours during peak seasons.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to speak Spanish (bilingual preferred but not necessary).
  • Ability to work in the US with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
