Welcome to Todd Greiner Farms! We’re hiring a full-time Lead Farm Mechanic. In this role you will be a working manager, assisting with in-shop and in-field maintenance and repair while managing our equipment, labor, and prioritizing projects. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, responsible, honest, and hard-working that is willing to learn and help assist with various duties on large fruit and vegetable farm.

 

We are a diversified fruit, vegetable and evergreen growing, packing, and shipping operation located in Hart, Michigan. We started out farming 120 acres in 1994 and have grown to over 2,000 acres.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage the equipment, labor, and prioritization of projects/tasks for optimal efficiency.
  • Assist with in-field equipment repairs to reduce downtime in the field.
  • Manage and oversee the repair and maintenance of equipment, but also working hands-on on equipment repairs. This would be a working-manager role.
  • Responsible for ordering all parts and completing the final quality check on repairs.
  • Price shop for the best deals on parts and supplies for the shops and equipment.
  • May manage 1 employee in the shop, prioritize projects and assign tasks.
  • Update maintenance records handwritten or computer, track parts inventory, DOT files and oil change schedules.
  • Maintain up to date SDS sheets for both shops.
  • Maintain a highly organized and clean appearance of the shop and farm grounds.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure safety practices are being followed.
  • Responsible for Sprayer and Planter calibration and set up.
  • Major and Minor equipment repair, set-up, and maintenance of farm vehicles, implements and mechanical equipment on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the set-up of irrigation equipment/ center pivot and hard hose reel.

  • Experience in agriculture, farming, or heavy equipment performing maintenance and repair on farm and other heavy equipment.
  • Someone who is flexible, hardworking, reliable, works well with and communicates well with others.
  • Ability to work longer hours during peak seasons.
