Agritech Research is seeking a full-time Research Associate to join our team to be located near our Stronghurst, IL facility. While being a part of a research team that manages test plots in 26 states, this position will work from our facility in Stronghurst and remotely from an individuals’ home office to help manage and oversee our test plots within the Midwest. This is a salaried position with overtime compensation and multiple bonus opportunities. This position demands independent thinking, time management, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and with a field crew. Travel is extensive and requires on average 100 nights in a hotel. Company vehicles will be provided for all travel required for the job.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in flagging out plot locations with growers
- Planting small plot trials
- We operate an advanced research planter that can plant multiple hybrids and populations throughout a 7-to-10-acre location
- Data Collection
- Random stand counts
- Plant and ear heights
- Disease pressure
- Opportunistic notes
- Plot Maintenance
- Weed control
- Monitor plant growth
- Harvesting
- We operate highly specialized combines for small plot harvest.
- Lodging notes
- Transport
- We transport all of our equipment with Peterbilt semi’s and Landoll detachable trailers
- Class A CDL license with air brakes is required
- Equipment Maintenance
- Preventative maintenance to be taken care of out in the field and in the shop during the off-season
- Make repairs as needed
- Assist the Regional Research Agronomists with other related duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work 70-hour weeks during planting and harvest.
- Proficiency in computer skills, Word, and Excel.
- Preferably have a farming background with experience operating farm equipment.
- Ability to obtain a commercial pesticide applicator license for multiple states within region.
- Ability to obtain a Class A CDL license with air brakes. New employees are offered a 3 to 4-week CDL training class.
