Description

The Farmers Cooperative Association (FCA) Crop Production Manager will be responsible for the administration and management of the entire crop production department and team. This team member will be responsible for the direction, promotion, and coordination of sales and operations in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, and help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals.

This team member will ensure successful operations effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will have the ability to effect business goals and participate in company-wide initiatives. This team member will oversee and manage resources for the cooperative in accordance with federal and state requirements. Duties will include direct or oversight of purchasing, pricing, contracting, delivery, inventory, hedging, advisement, application, and sales of all agronomy products. The successful candidate will be prepared to support and promote the FCA and its members at all times.

Essential Functions, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
•   Thorough understanding of agriculture, supply chain and agronomy
•   Strong supervisory and leadership skills
•   Ability to maintain a Commercial Applicators License and Commercial Drivers License
•   Ability to maintain a Certified Crop Advisor certificate
•   Strong agronomic knowledge of CPP, CN and seed genetics
•   Ability to promote the sales of all cooperative agronomy and related products on the basis of sales records, marketing surveys, and scouting
•   Preparation, planning, and execution of a sales program to current and prospective accounts
•   Ability to increase market share, develop sales goals/action plans
•   Monitor the competition’s marketing and pricing strategies
•   Ensure quality of agronomy products and services
•   Ensure maintenance of cooperative’s agronomy facilities and equipment
•   Continuing education of agronomy products and services
•   Facilitation of product training to cooperative employees
•   Monitor accounts receivable to remain within acceptable limits
•   Develop and implement maintenance, repair, and housekeeping programs for department
•   Respond promptly to customer needs, resolve questions, complaints, and concerns
•   Maintain and promote safety awareness; follow safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
•   Recruit, interview, hire, educate, and train employees in the department
•   Draft, negotiate, oversee, and administer contracts
•   Establish and maintain communication and business relationships with vendors
•   Internal communications to staff and other FCA departments
•   Collaborate with peers, co-workers, vendors, internal and external customers
•   Professional customer relations skills in working with both internal and external customers
•   Professionalism in dealing with confidential matters and correspondence
•   Excellent written, verbal communication, and analytical skills
•  Proficient technology skills

Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in agriculture plus a minimum of five years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be required.
