WELCOME to Lanehaven Farms; we are hiring a FARM MAINTENANCE MANAGER. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the maintenance of the farm equipment.  You will join a progressive seed corn, commercial crop, organic crop, and hog farm based in Northeast Iowa. The farm has been an early adopter of leading-edge technologies that improve processes' efficiency, quality, and overall effectiveness.  Core values characterize how the farm lives and conduct business daily.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

ORGANIZATION & MANAGEMENT

  • Work with Operations Manager to manage assistant labor concerning the overall farm equipment and shop schedules.
  • Organize a logical and reasonable system to monitor and maintain an economic level of parts inventory.
  • Maintain equipment files, including records of all performance of maintenance and repairs for each piece of equipment.
  • Keep thorough records of time allocation by job and submit them regularly to the office for billing.
  • Provide all receipts to the office with appropriate enterprise coding daily.
  • Keep the shop and parts room clean and organized.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE

  • Develop, maintain, and adhere to a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles and machines.
  • Be responsible for keeping all vehicles and machines clean inside and out.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and ensure compliance with all DOT regulations.
  • Rigorously and thoroughly prepare all equipment for upcoming seasonal work to minimize in-season repairs and downtime.
  • Assist with the management of precision farming technology deployment and data capture management.
  • Maintain safety features on all movable equipment and the shop, including warning labels, slow-moving vehicle signs, PTO shields, gravity stops, etc., and help eliminate farm hazards as they are discovered or reported.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with fieldwork and other general farm work, as necessary.
  • Operate feed mill, when needed, to minimize downtime.
  • Assist off-loading of supplier deliveries.
  • Be safe and consider the safety of others.
  • Cooperate with Owners to develop and enforce an effective safety program.
  • Obtain and annually renew pesticide applicators' certification.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR:

  • A degree in Diesel Ag Technology or similar work experience.
  • A private pesticide applicators license or the ability to get one.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass vehicle insurance verification.  A commercial driver’s license is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and appreciation for the value of accurate data and reporting.
  • A mindset of curiosity and progressiveness.
  • Experience operating farming equipment is beneficial.
  • An agriculture background is helpful
