A little about the farm: Florida Crystals is a domestic sugar producer and a fully integrated cane sugar company. They are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar grown and harvested in the United States. They are looking for an agricultural research scientist to lead the research program in soil science/crop nutrition at their Belle Grade, Florida location.
What you would be doing: As the agriculture research scientist, you would be responsible for the management and execution of research initiatives and would report to the VP of Research and Development. You would conduct research, making analyzations and recommendations on projects and overseeing ongoing trials. Furthermore, you would be responsible for maintaining records, reviewing information, and providing reports for Operations.
Qualifications: Two years of previous experience in agricultural research, MS degree or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Nutrition, or closely related field, and experience with field sampling techniques.
A little about the farm: Hunter Nutrition, Inc. is a specialized feed manufacturer located in Brooklyn, Indiana. They manufacture texturized, pelleted, and mineral/premix feeds. They emphasize quality over quantity, and they are looking for someone who can take on both a management and sales role.
What you would be doing: This position would include a variety of roles, from assisting with office duties to conducting both inside and outside sales of their products. Some of your responsibilities would include customer service, overseeing office operations, payroll, inventory tracking, and maintaining current formula and feed tag information.
Qualifications: Two years of office management experience, QuickBooks accounting software experience and prior agriculture/agribusiness experience.
A little about the farm: Central Valley Ag is a member-owned farmers cooperative located in central and northeastern Nebraska. They provide agronomy, grain, and feed services to over 10,000 farmers and ranchers. They are looking for a location manager in their Stromsburg, Nebraska location.
What you would be doing: As the location manager, some of your responsibilities would be overseeing the finances, overseeing day to day operations of the elevator, monitoring the quality of the grain, regulating the inventory at the location, and marketing the location’s products and services. You would also oversee four to eight subordinates.
Qualifications: Good time management and problem solving skills, speaking and writing skills, mathematics and accounting skills, and must be able to manage financial resources, operational resources, and personnel resources.
A little about the business: Ag Service Inc. is an independent agriculture retailer located in Hillsboro, Kansas. They are seeking an agronomy sales manager to plan and direct sales and marketing for all retail agronomy products and services.
What you would be doing: As the Agronomy Sales Manager, you would manage all aspects of agronomy services to producers, work with agronomy operations managers and the leadership team, oversee daily activities of the sales staff, and monitor competitive situations.
Qualifications: Four year degree in agronomy or agriculture related program or 5-10 years related agronomy sales experience, communication skills, leadership skills, and computer skills.
A little about the business: Pro Ag is a financially strong and well-capitalized insurer that strives to serve their clients’ best interests and are singularly focused on crop insurance. They are seeking a specialty crop underwriter for their Amarillo, Texas location.
What you would be doing: As the specialty crop underwriter, you would be involved in the review of crop insurance documents. Some of your responsibilities would include reviewing policy information, responding to questions from agents, analyzing and researching policy information related to FCIC error resolution, and reviewing requests for cancellations and endorsements.
Qualifications: Associates or bachelor degree in accounting and/or finance or the equivalent experience, experience with underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures within the crop insurance industry, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
