Commercial Insurance Account Manager for Kathy Barry Agency

A little about the business: We are a family-owned, independent agency with locations in Robesonia, Jonestown, and Douglassville, PA. We are a unique office since we are split almost 50/50 between commercial and personal insurance. The commercial business in our office is almost completely agriculture related, in fact we are one of the largest farm insurance agencies in Pennsylvania. Our agency is continuing to grow and we recognize we will need another team member in order for that growth to continue. We pride ourselves on being insurance consultants rather than salespeople. Over our 20+ year history we have operated under a single premise: “Always do the right thing for your customer.”

What you would be doing: 

  • Sell: Commercial Insurance Products to a wide range of industries.
  • Develop leads, schedule appointments and identify customer needs
  • Use a customer-focused, needs-based review process to educate customers about insurance
  • Establish client relationships and follow up with customers, as needed
  • Work with the principal to establish and meet marketing goals
  • Provide prompt, accurate, friendly service by responding to inquiries regarding insurance availability, eligibility, coverage’s, policy changes, transfers, claim submission procedures and status
  • Maintain a strong work ethic with a total commitment to success each and every day.

Qualifications: 

  • Have sales experience (outside or inside sales representative, ag sales, agronomy sales, ag equipment sales, retail sales associate, or telemarketing) preferred, but not required
  • Have any experience and/or understanding of crop farming, livestock, ag equipment or other agriculture preferred, but not required
  • Have a successful track record of meeting sales goals/quotas preferred but not required
  • Have excellent communication skills – written, verbal and listening
  • Are enthusiastic about the role insurance and financial products play in helping people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams
  • Are self-motivated, organized and ability to manage the details

General Maintenance for Schmidt Bros

A little about the business: Schmidt Bros. Inc. was established as a grain, vegetable and livestock operation in 1937 by Lawrence and Hilda Schmidt. In 1941, Robert and Paul Schmidt continued the business. Today, there are 4 managing partners, 20 full-time employees, and 85 seasonal employees. Currently, there are 14+ acres of greenhouses, which are part of a 700-acre farm. The first greenhouse was built in 1951 and was used to grow transplants for the outdoor vegetable operation. In 1961, we started growing bedding plants. Today, we wholesale bedding plants, hanging baskets, patio planters, mums, fall pansies, and poinsettias.

What you would be doing: 

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs to vehicles, equipment and greenhouses and scheduled maintenance on vehicles including electric vehicle maintenance, equipment and greenhouses.
  • Perform routine checks, and repairs to electrical systems.
  • Perform service skills including, but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, troubleshooting and repair facilities
  • Perform routine checks, repairs and basic installations of irrigation system
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service

Qualifications: 

  • At least two (2) years practical experience in commercial maintenance which includes general construction, plumbing and electrical.
  • Must be familiar with PLC automated control systems.
  • Must have basic knowledge in electrical maintenance.
  • Must have hands on experience with irrigation maintenance and installation.
  • Must have basic welding and metal fab experience.

  • Able to apply project management principles to lead and manage capital projects and process improvement initiatives related to electrical, control, and mechanical engineering.
  • Develop and commission distributed control systems for process control.
  • Review accuracy and approve one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
  • Specify the following for projects and process improvement: analog vs. digital components, AC vs. DC power, NPN vs. PNP, and sinking vs. sourcing.

Qualifications: 

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related focus.
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English.
  • 8+ years of Control Engineering experience.
  • Certified Project Management Professional or Lean Six Black Belt.
  • 2+ applicable certifications (Rockwell Automation, FANUC, NFPA, UL etc.).
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation products.
  • Trained and mentored direct reports in a previous supervisory role.
