Grain Marketing and Origination Specialist at Key Cooperative

A little about the business: Key Cooperative is a member-owned, rural Iowa cooperative serving agriculture producers. We are essential business partners through Agronomy, Energy, Feed & Grain.  We have locations in 17 farming communities throughout the state of Iowa.

What you would be doing: 

  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding and effectively communicates marketing concepts and application of cash, futures, basis, options, grain contracts and other risk management tools.
  • Increases grain market share, wallet share, and customer retention while maintaining or enhancing overall margins.
  • Monitors customer offers, contracts, and settlement documentation, and communicates as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the current and potential market share.
  • Collaborates with the grain team to develop and Implement specific strategies and action plans for growth. Monitor customers’ metrics to track progress. Regularly reports on progress to grain management.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or six years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of merchandising in at least 3 different markets, with increasing levels of responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of outside sales or grain origination experience.
  • Prefer previous management experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Series III license preferred

Senior Accountant at CHS, Inc.

What you would be doing: 

  • Lead accounting function for various processes that may include joint venture and other equity-method investments, pension, and other corporate accounting areas.
  • Perform various financial close responsibilities (monthly, quarterly, annually), including but not limited to intercompany/ control account balances, financial statement consolidation, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation and reporting.
  • Perform financial analysis to identify key trends and data points that can help manage the business.
  • Promote a strong control environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Assist with other ad hoc projects that require strategic and critical thinking.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with an accounting focus required
  • 4+ years of accounting and/or consolidation experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Previous experience in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and advanced Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets, create pivot tables and summarize data from multiple sources

Maintenance Mechanic at H.H. Dobbins, Inc.

  • Maintain/repair production line equipment.
  • Preventive maintenance on conveyors.
  • May include farm machinery maintenance.
  • Perform unsupervised tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and resolve them quickly.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum-5 years of experience in machine maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 
  • Light fabrication abilities a plus.
  • Commercial electrical installation/repair experience preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and be willing to work overtime as needed based on production needs.

Production Supervisor at New Day Farms

What you would be doing:

  • Supervises daily operations of the production staff  
  • Plans, assigns and prioritizes work assignments to production staff 
  • Ensures hen safety and well-being by performing regular inspections of houses 
  • Implements policies and procedures as need.  Recommends improvements in production methods. 
  • Effectively supervises staff by providing coaching, training and direction to production personnel. Ensures performance appraisals are provided in a timely and effective manner.  Addresses and responds to performance issues, provides employees with development opportunities and feedback.  

Qualifications: 

  • Technical, Vocational, Associate’s or B.S. Degree in business management, poultry science, animal science or related field, or equivalent work experience required 
  • 2-5+ years’ experience working and/or supervising an animal farming operation, preferred  
  • 2-5+ years’ experience supervising personnel (preferably in an agricultural or manufacturing environment) preferred 
  • Comfort in working on a computer 
  • Effective leadership skills demonstrated by motivating, developing, coaching and mentoring others in a manner that ensures an environment exists which enables the workforce to achieve excellence. 
  • Monitors equipment to ensure it is properly functioning.  Reports mechanic problems to maintenance area and may provide hands on support in remedying situations as needed.   
  • Maintain daily, weekly and monthly records for compost, wetlands and lagoons. 
  • Participate in semi-annual inspections with ODA, EPA, County Health Department.

Farm Equipment Operator at KTM Farm

  • Operate farm equipment; tillage, grain cart, combine, etc.
  • Work with GPS and precision ag equipment.
  • Complete daily pre-trip inspections for fluid levels and tire pressure.
  • Assist in other areas of the farm as needed such as running parts, working with irrigation equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Perform light maintenance.

Qualifications: 

  • You have prior experience operating heavy equipment such as farm tractors, construction or military
  • You pay attention to the details; keeping accurate records and taking care of equipment
  • You have prior agriculture, farming and/or ranch experience preferred
  • You love the autonomy of operating equipment and are comfortable with the longer hours involved in farming and working outdoors in the elements
  • You like to work in an environment where it’s organized and the team prides themselves on well-maintained equipment and facilities
