Farm Equipment Operator for Jokisch Farms

A little about the business: Jokisch Farms is a diversified farming operation of grain and forage crops located in central Illinois. We are multi-generational farm that prides itself on a long history of being progressive trend-setters. We have a passion for agriculture and taking care of our land, our people, and our community.

What you would be doing: 

  • Operate field equipment such as running a grain cart and hauling anhydrous tanks
  • Perform ground maintenance including mowing and basic facility maintenance
  • Maintain accurate field records, inventory, and weight tickets
  • Assist with loading grain and maintaining grain bins (storage 200,000 bu)
  • Perform light maintenance and preventative maintenance on implements, trucks, and equipment
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall inspection

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in operating heavy equipment and mechanical experience in agriculture, construction, military, or a relatable field.
  • Valid driver’s license required and CDL preferred/willing to obtain.
  • Proven ability to be proactive in completing work.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends especially during peak season.
  • Ability to work in the outdoor elements in a variety of weather, be on your feet most of the day, lift up to 70lbs.

  • Train and/or facilitate training for location safety leaders, at multiple locations, with best-in-class safety programs and in creating and enforcing safety culture.
  • Set benchmarking criteria, determine best system for tracking and reporting to management, and ensure reports are completed and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Review incident investigations and reports to conduct root cause analysis, develop corrective actions, and oversee the implementation of those corrective actions.
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with safety team and managers in response to audit and loss control inspections; ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business, Industrial Safety or other safety related degree program
  • Safety Certification (CSP)
  • 5 years safety experience in a cooperative or operational environment
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
