Grain Superintendent for Central Valley Ag (CVA)

A little about the business: Central Valley Ag (CVA) is a member-owned cooperative with locations in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. What you would be doing: 

  • Coordinate movement of grain, including receiving, grading, loading, and storage among elevator facilities to maximize profitability.
  • Regulate the grain inventory at the location and communicate inventory levels to supervisor.
  • Assists in monitoring grain storage and condition to maintain excellent grain quality, including ensuring proper aeration, checking temperature, and sampling quality.
  • Oversee maintenance of buildings and equipment at the grain elevator, including grain dryers, fans and motors

Qualifications: 

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in the ag industry with an understanding of grain. Experience with quality, inventory, blending, conditioning and management of ground piles is preferred. Prior experience as a grain laborer, grain operator or similar role would prepare you well for this.
  • You have great communication skills. Prior management experience is not required.
  • You have good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • You have a Class A CDL license, or the ability to obtain it.
  • You have a HS Diploma or GED.

Farm Equipment Operator at Scherping Farms

What you would be doing: 

  • Operating farm equipment such as tractors, planters, tillage equipment and harvesters.
  • Light maintenance of farm equipment (Greasing, oil changes, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Assisting in all areas of the operation depending on the need for the season.

Qualifications: 

  • Strong farm operating and mechanical experience of either farm equipment, industrial equipment and/or heavy equipment.
  • Flexibility to assist in multiple areas of the farm and ability to work longer hours during peak season.
  • Positive attitude, loyalty and reputation for being a hard worker.
  • The ability to work well with others on the team.

What you would be doing:

  • Oversee various operations including, but not limited to, efficiency, organization, purchasing, marketing, and customer relations.
  • Provide high level of customer service to current and walk in customers.
  • Assist with ad development and newsletter.
  • Occasional Trade Show Attendance.
  • Support of Nutritionist’s work.
  • Inventory tracking as well as ingredient purchasing
  • Maintain current formula and feed tag information using MS Excel and MS Publisher
  • Customer service such as answering the phone, completing and processing customer orders, greeting walk-in customers, and completing customer literature requests

Qualifications: 

  • 2 years’ experience working in an office.
  • Good Computer Skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience with Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Prior agriculture, farming, or agribusiness experience.
  • A positive attitude, good work ethic, and the ability to pay careful attention to details and accuracy

What you would be doing: 

  • Design, implement, and maintain new products. Includes documentation associated with engineering change orders, bills of material, detailed CAD models and associated component drawings.
  • Create prototypes for testing and customer validation of the product.  Travel to field locations to gather data as required.
  • Lead in reviewing vendor capability to support product development and make recommendations on product specifications and component selection.
  • Research new technology or products to recommend and/or introduce modifications and/or advances to current systems, products and methods.
  • Assist in determining manufacturing approach and verification parameters to move products into production.
  • Ensure development of operators and parts manuals to meet customer needs.
  • Additional responsibilities will include current product updates, product structure maintenance, internal and customer product technical support.

Qualifications: 

  • BS in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent is required
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills within a cross functional team, as well as good problem-solving and analytical techniques
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and bring them to completion
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Proficient with Creo (Pro/E) CAD software
