Sprayer Applicator – Farm Operator for King Farms

A little about the business: King Farms located in Burr Oak, MI is a family-owned, large scale, farming operation growing high quality corn, soybeans and seed corn. We are a fully integrated operation operating on mostly irrigated ground. We pride ourselves on taking care of our land, our team and our crops.

What you would be doing: 

  • Precisely blend and apply inputs onto fields based on prescribed rates and label recommendations.
  • Determine quantity needed to complete each field.
  • Adjust hoses, nozzles, and tubes depending on distribution, material applied and conditions.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory level of chemicals and ensure returns when necessary.
  • Complete applicator logs and reports on schedule.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on the sprayer prior to starting; ensure nozzles, hoses, etc. are working properly.

Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience operating agricultural equipment; sprayer experience a plus, willing to train the right candidate
  • High attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Mechanically inclined to be able to assist with light maintenance and identify mechanical issues
  • Willingness to work outside in all conditions and ability to work extended hours during peak season.
  • A Michigan Private Pesticide Applicator certification or willingness to obtain
  • Physically be able to climb in and out of the tractor and lift up to 80 lbs

Assistant Farm Manager for Pecan Grove

What you would be doing: 

  • Assisting the Farm Manager in operations and labor management.
  • Coordination of operational tasks, crop management, harvest, processing and shipment of pecans.
  • Agronomy responsibilities including weed, fertilization, pest and disease control.
  • Maintain moisture levels using drip irrigation and micro sprinklers.
  • Operation and mechanical maintenance of farm equipment.
  • Fertilize, hedge, prune, trim and prep for growing season.

Qualifications: 

  • Agriculture or Horticulture related degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to physically work in a farming environment.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record at all times.
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work extended hours during harvest season.

What you would be doing: 

  • Recruit and maintain a strong dealer network in the respective region
  • Assist with and oversee the on-boarding of newly recruited dealers, and train and equip both new and existing dealers.
  • Work with and develop CropX dealers to sell the value of CropX’s solutions by setting end-user customer expectations.
  • Serve as a close connection to the CropX technology development team.
  • Developing and expanding the market – this includes identifying new opportunities and enhanced solutions that technology can bring.
  • Effectively manage schedule and travel while working independently.

Qualifications: 

  • A track record of excellence in past employment or other activities.
  • 5+ years of sales experience within the Ag Industry.
  • Experienced with developing and executing dealer strategy – including establishing, training and managing dealer partners in equipment and subscription sales.
  • Independent thinking with good judgement skills and a record of problem-solving.
  • Farming knowledge and / or agronomic experience.
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal, in both 1-1 and group settings.
  • Ability to understand the customer and to help dealers understand customer needs from both business and technical perspectives.
  • Comfort with technology: Ability to demonstrate software products virtually and in person; working knowledge of Salesforce.com or other CRM tools is a plus.
  • Comfort with necessary travel: Ability to travel about 30-50%+ on average, with seasonal spikes
