A little about the farm: Melon Acres is a third-generation produce and grain operation located in Oaktown, Indiana. They continue to strive to be a progressive operation, growing over 1,000 acres of produce an 1,500 acres of grain along with three acres of high tunnel greenhouses. Some of what they grow includes asparagus, cantaloupe, cucumber, sweet corn, and watermelon. They are looking for an assistant farm manager.
What you would be doing: As the assistant farm manager, you would assist in the managing of the planting of crops, assist in daily crop care decisions, manage migrant laborers throughout the season, help create annual crop plans, and operate and maintain farm equipment.
Qualifications: three years of on-farm experience, associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field, and computer experience in Microsoft Excel and Word.
A little about the company: Benchmark Building and Irrigation Inc. was founded in 1952 and has been serving the communities of North Carolina and Virginia ever since. They pride themselves with their quality work and dedicated employees. They are looking for a full-time service technician for their Robeson County, North Carolina location.
What you would be doing: As a service technician, you would troubleshoot, diagnose, and conduct mechanical and electrical repairs on center pivot irrigation systems, work directly with customers in order to communicate repairs made, work on mechanical and electrical components, and complete service reports.
Qualifications: 3-5 years mechanical or electrical experience, ability to communicate clearly with customers and other employees, and ability to use service related technology.
A little about the farm: Rice Lake Farms is a second generation family owned operation located in Grant, Michigan. They grow a variety of vegetables and have a plant operation that packs and ships their produce as well as produce from other farms. They are looking for a plant manager.
What you would be doing: As the plant manager, you would provide the overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of their packing plant, focus on high production output, high quality product, and waste reduction, and eliminate safety issues.
Qualifications: Be able to work nights and weekends during harvesting season, 3+ years of plant/operations management experience, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related education/experience.
A little about the business: The Maschhoffs is the largest family-owned hog production network in North America. They are looking for a production technician for their Gentry, Missouri location.
What you would be doing: As the production technician, you would be responsible for performing day-to-day activities based on science and practice to ensure high quality production of weaned pigs, promoting safe work habits, implementing standard operating procedures, keeping and maintaining production records, and performing maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, prior agriculture experience, knowledge of standard operation and maintenance procedures, and effective communication skills.
A little about the business: Harvest Energy Solutions is a family-owned operation offering energy efficient, American made, alternative energy products including solar and wind energy systems to the agriculture industry across the Midwest. They are hiring a territory sales manager for their Ohio territory.
What you would be doing: As the territory sales manager, you would work exclusively with their Ohio territory. You would be based from home with travel on-site to farm and agribusiness operations within the state of Ohio. You would be responsible for all sales activities and business development of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, partnering with new customers to manage projects, evaluating competitiveness of solar products and services, negotiating terms and closing sales, and participating in the strategic marketing and business development activities for new products, clients, and/or services.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred, three years prior sales experience in agriculture, solar, grain, livestock, ag services, or equipment, and basic mechanical knowledge.
