Farm Equipment Operator – Farm Hand for M&M Farms

A little about the business: Welcome to M&M Farms. We are a large farming operation in Northwest Minnesota growing almost 10,000 acres of sugar beets, edible beans, wheat and soybeans. We are a progressive operation that runs some of the latest and greatest technology and equipment. We run all John Deere tractors and combines, and most of our equipment is late model.

What you would be doing: 

  • Operating farm equipment such as tractors, combines and other farm equipment.
  • Performing light maintenance on equipment and trucks.
  • Hauling commodities to the elevator.
  • Assisting in other areas of the farm as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • Bring prior experience operating heavy equipment such as agriculture, construction, or military. Farming/agriculture a plus, but not necessary as we are willing to train.
  • Are naturally self-motivated, driven to get the job done, and are reliable.
  • Pay attention to the details keeping accurate records and take care of equipment.
  • Enjoy operating equipment, working with different crops, and are comfortable with the longer hours involved in our busy season.
  • Have welding experience.
  • Work well in a team environment.

Post Harvest Crew Leader for Duncan Family Farms

A little about the business: Duncan Family Farms® is a multi-regional certified organic family owned farm on over 8,000 acres. Our operations are located in Arizona, California, Oregon and New York. The farm is a year-round supplier of baby leaf items, which consist of several different varieties of lettuce and greens (red and green oaks, red and green romaine, red and green leaf, lolla rosa, tango, mizuna, red chard, green chard, tatsoi, baby kale, arugula and spinach). Our products are shipped across North America, into Canada and the United Kingdom.

What you would be doing: 

  • In coordination with other department Crew Leaders, supervise 10 – 15 operational employees.
  • Will coordinate contract laborer assignment for the Post-Harvest department.
  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the receiving, shipping, forklift operators, and other staff engaged in the receiving, shipping and cooling of product.
  • Ensures the quality of produce shipped abides by all Food Safety Standards.
  • Will ensure all Food Safety Rules are followed and all Food Safety Logs are accurately maintained such as, Sanitation Logs, Forklift Checklist Logs, Chemical Usage Logs, amongst others. 
  • Prepare and plan daily utilization of resources to ensure consistent and efficient post-harvest operations.

Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to push/pull/lift and or move 50 pounds.
  • Minimum of High School diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent education.
  • 1-2 years inventory or warehouse experience.
  • Knowledge in food safety, HACCP, GMPs and related protocols
  • Ability to effectively positively lead, motivate, and communicate to employees in English and Spanish
  • Good organizational and time management skill with an ability to multi-task.
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks
  • Ability to work extensive hours, weekends, and ability to travel 30% of the time to satellite locations.
  • Process improvement and problem-solving skills.

Testing Site Lead for Beck’s Hybrids

  • Collect fall agronomic notes (standability, plant integrity, etc.)
  • Conduct harvest of mini-strip and replicated plots

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an agricultural related field such as: agronomy, plant breeding, seed science, seed technology, plant genetics, crop science, plant physiology
  • Pesticide applicator license
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess strong agronomic and mechanical skills
  • Possess positive attitude
  • Strong agricultural knowledge
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, work as a team member, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • Skill to use personal computer and various software packages
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of field research equipment, specifically plot planters, plot combines and data collection equipment, and field computers.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 70 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • 5-10+ years field research experience.
