Organic Agronomist for Peterson Farms

A little about the business: Peterson Farms is a growing family operation located in Central Kentucky which manages over 17,000 acres and produces various agricultural products.  The company is structured and positioned for successful growth today and in the future.

What you would be doing: 

  • Scout crops and report observations to operations team and chief agronomist.
  • Ensure organic certification compliance, including crop recordkeeping.
  • Communicate Standard Operating Procedures to hemp growers and greenhouse operators.
  • Purchase crop inputs and greenhouse supplies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with 3rd party vendors for fertilizer and other products.
  • Manage and mentor agriculture student interns.

Qualifications: 

  • 4-year college degree in Agronomy, Crop and Soil Sciences, or related field.
  • 3-5 years scouting, farming, agricultural services, or related experience.
  • Proven strong communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to research, analyze, and present data to management in a clear, organized manner.
  • Proficient in IOS and PC GPS systems.

Farm Operator / Truck Driver for King Farms

A little about the business: King Farms located in Burr Oak, MI is a family-owned, large scale, farming operation growing high quality corn, soybeans and seed corn. We are a fully integrated operation operating on mostly irrigated ground. We pride ourselves on taking care of our land, our team and our crops.

What you would be doing: 

  • Operate tractors in the fall and spring
  • Drive grain trucks, seed and tender trucks to bring chemical and fertilizer to field
  • Mix fertilizer and chemicals properly according to ratios provided
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on farm equipment and implements
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Maintain a clean and organized work areas in the shop, tractors and trucks
  • Maintain accurate field records
  • Assist with irrigation equipment; turn on/off, move pivots, change tires, gear boxes, etc.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, EPA and State compliance

Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience driving semi; clean driving record required
  • 2+ years’ operating heavy equipment
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodation including but not limited to the ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently
  • Prior experience working with heavy equipment and driving semi; open to relatable experience in military, construction, etc.
  • Basic mechanical ability to work on equipment.
  • Willingness to work outside in all conditions and ability to work extended hours during peak season.

  • Calculate, and properly allocate costs on orders within accounting software.

  • Report any food safety concerns to management immediately.
  • Manage company social media accounts.  
  • Handle confidential information securely and appropriately.  

Qualifications: 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or Agriculture preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems, be organized, and multi-task.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office, Spreadsheets, Email Communication, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written & oral).
  • Work and communicate in a personable and professional manner.
  • Takes pride in doing a good job, and doing the right thing.
  • Ability to work independently at times, and contribute to a small team.
  • Work efficiently within a fast-paced & time-sensitive environment.

Farm Equipment Mechanic for Plevna Implement Company

What you would be doing:

  • Perform in-shop diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer farm machinery
  • Work directly with farming customers in order to communicate repairs made, share available products and services to meet their needs and provide instruction on Ag equipment and technology
  • Pre-deliver/set-up newly retailed farm machinery as suggested in each service sales requisition and or direction from the Service Manager

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours during peak seasons
  • Ability to work independently, are a dedicated self-starter and drive position productivity without the need for direct, constant supervision
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to facilitate coordination among multiple parties often under specific time frames and deadlines

Assistant Orchard Manager for A&J Kirby Farms

What you would be doing: 

  • Responsibilities include planning, goal setting, and directing orchard staff to produce high-quality apples.
