Farm Hand for Greig & Co

A little about the business: Greig & Co., Inc is located in Estherville, Iowa.  They are an 80+ year old family farming operation consisting of about 3,000 acres of crops including corn, soybeans, and alfalfa.  They also have 480 acres of pasture ground where they have 140 cow calf pairs and 325 yearlings. They are looking for a full-time, year round Farm Hand to join their team.

What you would be doing: As the Farm Hand, you would assist around the farm with general field work, maintenance, cattle activities, and other general farm work. Some of your responsibilities would include seedbed preparation, rock picking, and plowing, general maintenance of equipment, and cattle related activities.

Qualifications: They are willing to train an entry level candidate that is looking to grow within this role if you have a farming or agriculture interest or background.

Maintenance Supervisor for Foster Farms

A little about the business: Foster Farms has been a family-owned and operated company for four generations. Since their founding in 1939, they have been committed to providing consumers with the highest-quality, best-tasting poultry products available. They are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team in Porterville, California.

What you would be doing: As the Maintenance Supervisor, you would be responsible for directing and supervising shift maintenance, preparing work schedules and mechanic duty assignments, evaluating, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance repair requests, and performing frequent on-the-job inspections. There are other maintenance tasks that would also be expected of you on a day to day basis.

Qualifications: B.A./B.S. degree preferred, AA/B.S. degree or technical school graduate or a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the food processing industry, ability to communicate verbally and in writing, ability to interface successfully on a daily basis with all production groups, and balanced technical, mechanical, and human resource knowledge.

Swine Research Assistant for Brenneman Pork

A little about the business: Brenneman Pork, Inc. is a fully integrated, family run swine and grain operation in Washington County Iowa.  Their focus is to raise quality pork in an efficient, humane, and environmentally responsible manner. Brenneman Pork works hard to produce the highest quality pork products for its consumers and promote the pork industry as a whole. They are looking for a Swine Research Assistant to join their team.

What you would be doing: As the Swine Research Assistant, some of your responsibilities would include understanding all aspects of electronic feed system, maintaining the feed system, understanding of all research processes and carrying them out, recording and using all record keeping and budgeting tools created for research, collecting daily barn readings and completing daily paperwork, and answering alarm calls if they pose an animal welfare issue.

Qualifications: Understanding the needs of a wean to market animal, have an understanding of the different medications used in pork production, and extensive knowledge of research procedures.

Diesel Mechanic for Schaefer Farms

A little about the business: Schaefer Farms is a family owned and operated large commercial farm with diverse crops including kidney beans, sugar beets, carrots and corn located in western Minnesota and South Dakota. They are also partners in a bean processing plant offering services to neighboring farms. They are looking for a Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Hancock, Minnesota.

What you would be doing: As a Farm and Diesel Mechanic you would be troubleshooting and repairing tractors, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, farm implements, harvesters, irrigation pivots and pick-ups. Some of your responsibilities would include troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment, conducting routine service on equipment, and documenting repairs performed.

Qualifications: Solid background in either ag equipment maintenance, diesel repair, and/or strongly relatable experience in construction or military, light fabrication/welding experience, low & high voltage electrical knowledge, and strong diesel and hydraulic experience.

Herd Manager for Cow Pleasant Dairy

A little about the business: Cow Pleasant Dairy aims to produce milk, beef and crops of the highest quality with respect for the people, animals and the land that help produce it. They are a family-owned, 3,400 head dairy located in Weidman, MI. They are looking for a Herd Manager to join their team.

What you would be doing: As the Herd Manager, you would be responsible for leading and managing the dairy team, promoting teamwork, and maximizing workforce productivity and efficiency. Some of your responsibilities would include optimizing milk production and cattle health, providing a clean, comfortable, safe, and positive environment for cattle and employees, and maximizing reproductive performance of the milking herd.

Qualifications: Prior dairy experience, proven ability to lead and manage employees, prior experience setting and monitoring protocol, and strong communication skills.
